“司徒知百宗城郭立器知立器之数,”“司马知师旅甲兵乘白之数”中的“知”被理解成“知道”的“知”而不是正确的理解“主持”，“掌管”（direct,supervise,beinchargeof）的意思,所以将“知”翻译成“shouldknow”是不妥的。同种错误在“司马知师旅甲兵乘白之数”（《王制》）也同样出现。

沃译：Intheworldthosewhoobeythedictatesofritualwillachieveorder;thosewhoturnagainstthemwillsufferdisorder，thosewhoobeythemwillwinsafety;thosewhoturnagainstwillcourtdanger.Thosewhoobeythemwillbepreserved;thosewhoturnagainstthemwillbelost.
德译：Whenthecountryfollowsit,thereisgoodgovernmentandprosperity;whenitisnotfollowedthereisanarchyandcalamity.Hewhofollowsitissafe;hewhodoesnotfollowitisindanger.Hewhofollowsitwillbepreserved;hewhodoesnotfollowitwillbedestroyed.
“从之者安，不从者危；从之者存，不从者亡”指的是“遵循礼的国家安定，不遵循礼的国家危险；遵循礼的国家存在，不遵循礼的国家灭亡。”很明显，“安定”或“危险”；“存在”或“灭亡”指的是国家，而不是指人。所以沃译“whoobeythemwillwinsafety;thosewhoturnagainstwillcourtdanger.”和德译“Hewhofollowsitissafe;hewhodoesnotfollowitisindanger.”这两种翻译是不对的。洛译“Whenitobservesthem,thereissafety;whenitdoesnot,thereisdanger.”才是正确的翻译。
（3）故木受绳则直，金就砺则利，君子博学而日参省乎己，则知明而行无过矣。（《劝学》）
洛译：So,too,woodthathasbeenmarkedwithplumblinewillbestraightandmetalthathasbeenputtothewhetstonewillbesharp.Inbroadeninghislearning,thegentlemaneachdayexamineshimselfsothathisawarenesswillbediscerningandhisactionswithoutexcess.
沃译：Thus,ifwoodispressedagainstastraighteningboard,itcanbemadestraight;ifmetalisputtothegrindstone,itcanbesharpened;andifthegentlemanstudieswidelyandeachdayexamineshimself,hiswisdomwillbecomeclearandhisconductbewithoutfault.
德译：Forwoodmustundergotheuseoftheplumb-linetobestraight;ironmustbegroundonthewhetstonetobesharp;thesuperiormanmustmakehislearningbroadanddailyexaminehimselfinordertohavehisknowledgeexactandhisactionswithoutblemish.
