Abstract:Itiscommonthatlanguagelearnerstakethewordsliterallyorviolateculturaltaboosduetotheirlackofthenewculturalbackground,forlearningaforeignlanguageistoknowanotherculture.Colourwordsaresharedbypeoplefromvariouscultures,buttheyusuallyimplydifferentculturalconnotations.Therefore,anexplorationintoconnotativedifferencesbetweenChineseandEnglishcolourwordsishelpfultogiveaglimpseofthedifferencesbetweenthetwocultures,tomasterEnglishandtocommunicateefficiently.
